History: He was born and raised in Chicago, IL by his single mother. She made a life for them in a mediocre neighborhood with hardly enough money for the bills let alone anything extra. This quickly taught him to depend on himself to make it somewhere in life and instilled a strong desire in him for the better life. He was destined for a life of meritocracy and knew that he would have an uphill battle ahead of him if he wanted to make something more of himself. He excelled in high school and began to take on the cocky attitude towards his senior year as he realized he had had fought all the obstacles of his family, his neighborhood, and his life. At the age of 18 he graduated high school and received a full scholarship to Harvard. He graduated from college at the top of his class and had become even more brash, cocky, and confident than he was before. At the age of 22 he entered the world with a masters in business management and quickly made his own fortune. He climbed the corporate and was the top man in a major US company within 2 years of joining the corporation. As he looked at all he had accomplished compared to where he had come from he turned into the man he is today. At the age of 24 he had risen to the top of the company and now had all the fortunes, materialistic items, and accolades he could have ever wanted. Now knowing that he could dominate and be the best at anything he wanted to do he decided to quit and find a new career to conquer. He quit his business career while at the pinnacle and decided to pursue one of his childhood past times. He used some of the fortune he had gained to take a year traveling around the world learning from the most experienced and technically sound wrestlers alive. Now at the age of 25 he joins the IXW to once again climb to the top of a company which he is very confident he will do.
Appearance: He is a young guy with a muscular build. He has blond hair that is medium length. When he is not in a match he keeps his hair in a ponytail. He has a Chinese symbol over his heart that stands for perseverance. He also has the word warrior written in Chinese with a barb wire tattoo coming out of each side and going around his right arm. He is well defined to with no fat on his body. It’s obvious that he works out but he isn’t overly muscular. He doesn’t have any scars or blemishes on his body. Entrance Description: After he is introduced by the ring announcer the words "The Gift" are lighted up in the middle of the ramp leading down to the ring. As the music begins to get louder a white light is shown on Matt standing at the entrance with his head down. As the music plays Matt raises his head in sync with the first I'm Not Listening Anymore lyrics. When the music busts into the second set of I'm Not Listening Anymore lyrics a huge line of explosions go off behind Matt turning the lights back on. Simultaneously as the explosions go off Matt hits his chest three times where his tattoo is and starts walking down to the ring always keeping his eyes on his opponent. He talks a little smack on his way down and never slaps any hands to ensure he doesn’t waste any time getting to the ring. When he gets down to the ring he goes up the stairs and goes to the middle of the ropes. He then flips over the ropes as explosions simultaneously go off in each corner at the same time. He then goes and stands up on each turnbuckle with his arms raised soaking in cheers or boos. After that he goes to the opposite corner of his opponent. His music dies off as he takes off his shirt and begins the match.
Description: Matt “The Gift” Hughes is a cocky young wrestler that is convinced that he is the next big thing in XVI and that no one is going to be able to stop him. He has persevered through a lot and has climbed to the top of the business world convincing him that if no obstacle has stopped him to this point then the XVI roster certainly isn’t going to stop him from reaching his goal. He does have morals and values but does not allow them to get in the way of what he must do. He will break them and do whatever it absolutely takes to reach the top and to get what he wants. . He goes up the turnbuckle to the top rope and pulls his opponent up to the second rope and sets him up for a power bomb with his opponents head between his legs. He then flips his opponent up above his head. He jumps of the top rope and simultaneously turns in the air towards the turnbuckle as he power bombs his opponent into the turnbuckle.
Setup Move 2: The Educator
Wraps up his opponent from behind to setup for a suplex. He then suplexes his opponent twice never letting go off his grip on his opponent. After the second suplex he stands up with his arms still around his opponent and then finishes the combination off with a full nelson slam. He then stand up and gets ready for his finisher.
Finisher Move 2: The Gift
He stands by his opponent kneeling and waving at him to get up. As his opponent stands up he makes sure that he is behind them. As soon as his opponent turns around he stands on one foot and kicks them directly in their face.
